Who We Are
Founded in 1913, Insulators Local 34 is committed to delivering exceptional opportunities, training, and benefits to our members. Collaborating with elite contractors throughout Minnesota, Western Wisconsin, and South Dakota, we specialize in the installation of advanced mechanical insulation solutions for corporate and non-profit organizations. At Insulators Local 34, we do not merely adapt to industry developments; we lead the way. Our comprehensive apprenticeship programs and proactive outreach initiatives ensure that our highly skilled membership remains at the forefront of the latest mechanical insulation technologies.
Through extensive training and ongoing education, we equip our members with the practical and technological expertise necessary for success. This rigorous preparation enables our members to work safely and effectively in challenging environments, including nuclear plants, military facilities, manufacturing and chemical plants, retail centers, hospitals, universities, and educational institutions.
Forging Alliances
At Insulators Local 34, we are dedicated not only to training the most skilled mechanical insulation installers but also to creating business opportunities for our members. In May 2009, we established a strategic alliance with the National Insulation Association and the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers. This partnership is focused on raising awareness of the significant benefits of mechanical insulation. Our outreach efforts include a comprehensive campaign that utilizes robust data and compelling financial arguments to engage potential industrial and retail clients. To date, this initiative has generated hundreds of jobs and resulted in the installation of thousands of miles of insulation, reflecting our unwavering commitment to the growth and success of our members.
The object of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 34 shall be to assist its membership in securing employment, to defend their rights and advance their interests as working men and women, and by education and co-operation, raise them to that position in society to which they are justly entitled.

Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 34: A Century of Excellence
Founded in 1913, Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 34 has been a cornerstone of the labor movement for over a century. Through times of prosperity and hardship, from economic downturns to periods of national conflict, our Union has not only endured but has thrived. We owe this legacy to the dedication of countless members who have contributed to our growth and success, and we look forward to continuing this tradition for generations to come.
Our commitment to excellence has solidified Local 34's position in Minnesota's Building & Construction Trades Council. We work together to improve the lives of our members and to uphold the high standards of our trade- a tradition of service and skill that elevates both the union and the industries we serve.
What we do
Our members specialize in installing a wide range of insulation materials for the thermal protection of both hot and cold mechanical systems. Our work is essential in numerous settings such as, but not limited to:
Our scope of work is vast, and our members are trained across all areas of insulation application. We also provide certified expertise in fire protection, soundproofing, and the installations of various protective coatings on mechanical systems, meeting the complex demands of modern building infrastructure.
Training and safety
Our training program includes the latest certifications, including up-to-date OSHA and confined space training, to ensure a safe work environment for everyone involved- our members, our contractors, our customers and the public. By constantly upgrading our techniques and certifications, we stay competitive and equipped to tackle the ever-evolving challenges of the marketplace.

Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 26 was organized in 19** and can trace its roots back to... For over ** years our Union has endured through good times and bad in peacetime and at war through economic depression and prosperity, and through it all, we not only have survived, we have flourished.
We proudly recognize all those who have played an important roll in our growth, and look to our ranks to continue this great tradition of organized labor, to work together to better the lives of all of our members to ensure that future generations of members provide the dedication of excellence that has brought our Trade to its position of excellence in the Building & Construction Trades Council of New York.
